Creating partnerships to improve the community through education and training

Memories of Taibach Community Education Centre
Leila Rayner
Born in 1924, Leila Rayner went to Eastern School from the age of five. She was taught reading and writing, and remembers reciting poetry in class. She was very sporty and played one game that involved walking with flowerpots on her feet! She also remembers how close the railway line ran to the building; they could always tell if it was a passenger train or a coal train because the passenger trains were faster.
Listen to Leila talking about learning Welsh at Eastern School, and the role played by the only pupil with a watch.
